Privacy Policy

Overview

Foreground ("we", "us") is operated by Dizid Web Development. It's a small, self-serve tool that checks whether AI search tools like ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, and Grok mention your business, and tracks that over time. This policy explains what we collect, why, and how it's handled.

What we collect

• Account information — your email address, used for login and account identification via Neon Auth.
• Company data you enter — brand name, website and the customer niches (with their questions) for each company you add, plus any answers you give to action plan questions. This is the data used to run scans; you control what's entered.
• Scan results — the AI models' responses to our questions, how often your business and others are named, the pages the AI read, and any action plan generated from that scan.
• Report links — every finished scan has its own report page at a long random link (foreground.info/r/…). Anyone with that link can open that one report: the company name and website, the questions, the counts and who AI named instead. It isn't listed anywhere and it isn't shown to search engines. Ask us (below) and we'll switch a link off.
• Your network, for free scans — when a free account runs a scan, we keep a scrambled form of your IP address (a keyed hash, not the address itself) for 24 hours, only to limit free scans to 3 per network per day.
• Payment information — if you upgrade to a paid plan (Starter or Pro), Stripe collects and processes your card details directly. Foreground never sees or stores your card number; we only receive a subscription/payment status from Stripe.
• Newsletter subscription — if you sign up for the email newsletter from our blog, we store your email address, whether you've confirmed it, and when you signed up, confirmed, or unsubscribed. This is separate from having a Foreground account: subscribing doesn't create one, and having one doesn't subscribe you. We also keep the same scrambled form of your network's IP address for 24 hours, only to limit signups to 2 per network per day.
• Contact form messages — if you use our contact form, we receive your name, email address, the business and page you mention and your message by email, only to answer you and handle your request (for example removing a business from a list). We don't store them in our database.

How we use it

• Running the AI-visibility scans you request, which involves sending your company's niche questions directly to four AI providers — OpenAI, Google, Anthropic, and xAI — to generate grounded, web-search-backed answers.
• Counting and displaying how often you're named, and your scan history.
• Billing and subscription management, handled through Stripe.
• Sending the newsletter, only to addresses that subscribed and confirmed (see "Newsletter" below).
• Operating, maintaining, and improving the product — for example, diagnosing a failed scan.

We do not sell your data, and we do not use it to train AI models of our own.

Who we share it with

These service providers process data on our behalf, only as needed to run Foreground:

• OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, and xAI — each receives the prompts built from your company data directly to run a grounded search against their own model. These are the four AI checks that make up a scan. Anthropic also reads your website to suggest niches, look up your business details, and write and fact-check your action plan. Google also answers a Google Maps check for local niches.
• Stripe — handles all payment processing for the paid plans. Foreground never stores your card number or full payment details.
• Resend — sends the scan-complete email to your account's email address. If you subscribe to the newsletter, Resend also sends the confirmation email and each newsletter issue, and holds the list of confirmed subscribers' addresses so it can do that. It also delivers contact form messages to us.
• Neon — hosts our database and authentication (login/session) system.
• Netlify — hosts the application and runs its backend functions.
• Cloudflare Web Analytics — counts page views (which page, the referring site, rough country and device type) so we can tell whether the site is working. It sets no cookies, stores nothing in your browser and doesn't keep your IP address. See "Cookies" below.

We don't share your data with anyone else, and never for advertising purposes.

These providers are based outside your country (most are US-based), so using Foreground involves your data being processed internationally. Each provider maintains its own safeguards for that transfer under its applicable privacy/data-processing terms.

Public lists of businesses AI names

We publish the names of businesses that AI assistants name in answer to public questions, such as which makelaar in Haarlem they recommend (foreground.info/nl/ai-aanbevolen/). For each business on these lists we also publish a result page and a badge it can put on its own site. We show the business name as the AI wrote it and how often it was named, nothing else about the people behind it. A business can ask to be removed via our contact form (foreground.info/nl/contact/) or at dev@dizid.com. We answer within 5 working days.

The instant check on our site looks up those saved results. It counts how often it is used, as daily totals only: we don't store the name you type, your IP address or a cookie.

Cookies

Foreground uses one essential cookie, set by Neon Auth, to keep you logged in between visits. It's only set when you log in. We count page views with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which uses no cookies and stores nothing in your browser, so there's no tracking to consent to. We don't use advertising or tracking cookies.

Newsletter

Our blog has a signup form for an email newsletter. Nothing is sent to an address until it's confirmed: after you submit the form we send one email with a confirmation link, and you're added to the list only once you click it. An address that's entered but never confirmed is not added to the list: we keep it, marked as unconfirmed, and send nothing further to it. We plan roughly one email per new blog post. Every newsletter email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can also email us (below) and we'll remove you. We rely on your consent, which you give by confirming, and you can withdraw it at any time.

Data retention

We keep your account and company/scan data for as long as your account is active, so you can see your visibility trend over time. If you want your account and its data deleted, contact us (below) and we'll remove it, aside from records we're legally required to keep (e.g. billing records for tax purposes).

Newsletter addresses are kept until you unsubscribe. After that we keep the address with a note that it unsubscribed, so it isn't added again without a new confirmation. If you'd rather we delete it entirely, contact us and we will.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) between your browser, our servers, and our providers. Access to the underlying database is restricted to what the application needs to function. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable, industry-standard measures to protect your data.

Your rights

You can request a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete your account entirely at any time by contacting us below.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes materially, we'll update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of Foreground after a change means you accept the updated policy.
